How do I connect the Zerama Remote
to the Zerama
Server?
The first time you connect the
Zerama Remote to the Zerama Server you need to supply
the ServerIP and Port on the connection screen of the
Zerama Remote. To get the server information, start the
server application. the ServerIP:Port is found at
the bottom left status bar of the Zerama Server - Main Window.
For example, "Waiting for
Connection! ServerIP:Port 10.0.1.79:4462" ServerIP = 10.0.1.79 (10.0.1.79 is
only an example this probably wont be your IP) Port = 4462 (default value) Then press connect.
If there is a problem
connecting the remote to the server, See I am not able to connect the Zerama Remote , what should I check?. |

I am
not able to connect the Zerama Remote, what
should I
check?
Three common causes for the
remote not to connect are: 1) You
have the wrong ServerIP and/or Port data in the
remote. 2) Your
wireless PDA may not be connected to the
network. 3)
You forgot to start the Zerama Server.
How
do I test that the ServerIP and Port are
correct?
To confirm that your ServerIP
and Port are configured correctly. Place the
Pocket PC into the cradle , type the ServerIP and Port
on the connection screen of the Zerama Remote and press
Connect. If this works, then you can rule out the
problem with the Zerama Remote and Server. If you
failed make sure your Zerama Server is running on
the host PC and that you followed the instructions on
how to configure your remote, see How do I connect the Zerama Remote to the Zerama Server?.
How
do I check if the wireless PDA is connected to
the network?
Two common ways to check that
the PocketPC is connected to the network are:
1) Check the IP asdress of your Pocket PC by
clicking the Refresh the Pocket PC IP
Address link on
Zerama Remote - Connection.
Make sure the IP is a valid one. Some
failed wireless connections produce an
IPAddress of
169.254.XXX.XXX or 127.0.0.1 (is a loopback address
127.0.0.1 and not valid); don't be tricked
. When the connection is turned
off because of your Pocket
PC's powersave mode, the remote may have to
reset the connection but the remote will
attempt to reuse or reconnect on it's own.
Press Refresh a few times,
sometimes reconnecting takes a few seconds.
2) Open a web
browser to any website on your Pocket PC. (A
working web connection is always
a good test for network connectivity. If
this fails you may need to restart your wireless
connection.)

The Server Application is
not running or port is incorrect. 1) Check the Server is
running 2) Check you are
connecting on the same port.
Default 4462
|
| A socket
operation was attempted to an unreachable host |
This occurs when the
wireless connection to your Pocket PC is off. This
may occur if your Pocket PC has a power safe mode
and it turns off the wireless
connection automatically. |
| A connection
attempt failed because the connected party did not
properly respond after a period of time, or
established connection host has failed to respond
|
This occurs when the
remote is unable to find the Server. You may
have mistyped the Server IP address. 1) Check the address and try
again 2) Try
using Server Name instead of Server IP
Address. Zerama
Server > Options >Port Setting
(Tab) >
Server Name.
